Job Description

The Town of Scarborough's Community Services Department is seeking applicants who are creative, energetic, caring, responsible, and dependable to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors. Camp Counselors are responsible for supervising children both on-site and off-site, planning and leading age-appropriate daily activities, and actively engaging with campers to create a safe, inclusive, and fun camp environment. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) within our eight-week seasonal summer day camp program, serving children entering kindergarten through 6th grade. 


Availability Requirements: Applicants must be available June 19 – August 14, 2026, anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Mandatory training will be required prior to the first official day of camp.
 

Compensation: Hourly rate of $16.00–$18.00, based on education and experience.
 

Position Requirements:
 Must have completed junior year of high school
 Ability to communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents
 Basic knowledge of children's developmental needs
 First Aid/CPR and Water Safety Certification, or willingness to be trained
 Ability to be active and participate in indoor and outdoor activities throughout the day
