Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and facilitation of Cub Care, Safari Camp and Middle School camp staff and programs;
  • Prepares, coordinates, implements and maintains summer camp and Cub Care Programs;
  • Responsible for the care and safety of participants and staff in related programs;
  • Responds to inquiries and complaints about programs;
  • Assists the Program Coordinators in the planning and implementation of enrichment programs and special events within the department and city-wide events through Heart of Biddeford;
  • Prepares for publication to the public and officials, a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding recreation programs;
  • Maintains a variety of records, including registrations, permission slips, purchasing, accidents, and vandalism, etc.;
  • Performs miscellaneous duties such as answering phones, typing correspondence, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, helping set up tables and chairs for classes, etc.;
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends; and
  • Assists in the recruitment and selection of part-time and seasonal staff and volunteers.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from a two-year college or university with a degree in recreation or a closely related field; 
  • Two-years of recreation experience; or 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • A valid driver’s license;
  • Coordinate and direct varied activities involved in a community recreation program; 
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, families’ other agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders, and the general public; 
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • At least one year supervisory experience in a camp or afterschool program; and
  • A willingness to demonstrate a commitment to the City of Biddeford's work around diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.

Job Type: Full-time 

Salary: $50,900- $56,000
