Recreation Program Assistant- Camps and Cub Care

Responsibilities
- Assists in the development and facilitation of Cub Care, Safari Camp and Middle School camp staff and programs;
- Prepares, coordinates, implements and maintains summer camp and Cub Care Programs;
- Responsible for the care and safety of participants and staff in related programs;
- Responds to inquiries and complaints about programs;
- Assists the Program Coordinators in the planning and implementation of enrichment programs and special events within the department and city-wide events through Heart of Biddeford;
- Prepares for publication to the public and officials, a variety of brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding recreation programs;
- Maintains a variety of records, including registrations, permission slips, purchasing, accidents, and vandalism, etc.;
- Performs miscellaneous duties such as answering phones, typing correspondence, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, helping set up tables and chairs for classes, etc.;
- Availability to work evenings and weekends; and
- Assists in the recruitment and selection of part-time and seasonal staff and volunteers.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a two-year college or university with a degree in recreation or a closely related field;
- Two-years of recreation experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience;
- A valid driver’s license;
- Coordinate and direct varied activities involved in a community recreation program;
- Ability to establish and maintain positive effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, families’ other agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders, and the general public;
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- At least one year supervisory experience in a camp or afterschool program; and
- A willingness to demonstrate a commitment to the City of Biddeford's work around diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.

Schedule: Monday – Tuesday, 7am – 5pm // Wednesday – Thursday, 8am – 4pm
