Job Description
Program Coordinator- Camps and Enrichment/ Job responsibilities
  • Coordinates recreation staff and volunteers in the development and implementation of community enrichment programs for children, adults and families;
  • Oversees Recreation Program Assistant and instructors for any led programs or events;
  • Selects, plans and implements physical activities, vacation camps, summer camp programs, and enrichment programs for children and families;
  • Develops and maintains the budget for specific program areas;
  • Responds to public inquiries & concerns about their specific programs;
  • Promotes programs to the public and officials using a variety of resources including but not limited to: electronic and social media venues, brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding recreation programs;
  • Maintains a variety of records, including registrations, reservations, permission slips, purchasing, accidents and incidents;  
  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering phones, typing correspondence, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, helping set up tables and chairs for classes, etc.; 
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends; and
  • Assists in the recruitment, hiring and training of full-time, part-time and seasonal staff; this includes planning/leading summer camp orientation.

  • Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from a (minimum) two-year college or university with a degree in Recreation or a closely related field;
  • Five years recreation experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Day Camp and/ or Afterschool Program experience;
  • Valid state driver's license;
  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience in a recreation, school, camp or afterschool program setting;
  • A willingness to demonstrate a commitment to the City of Biddeford's work around diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion;
  • Considerable knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program; 
  • Skilled in operation of listed tools and equipment; skilled in First Aid and CPR;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders, and the general public; and
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with MyRec, Pik My Kid software and graphic design/marketing applications a plus; and
  • Comfortability with social media platforms and resources, or ability to learn upon hiring.

    Salary: $56,000-$61,000
