General Summary:

The City of Biddeford’s Recreation Department has a great opportunity for those who love sports and the outdoors with our seasonal field maintenance position. The primary function of this job is to assist the Biddeford Recreation Department staff with the maintenance and upkeep of parks, fields, and grounds as directed by Recreation Department. This position supports a variety of recreation programs and events offered in spring through fall, such as baseball and softball tournaments, through the preparation and maintenance of our fields. Seasonal field maintenance staff may interact with program participants, tournament vendors, coaches, and more, and a friendly and professional approach with the public is essential. This position often works weekends and weekday evenings as determined by program schedules, and must be reliable and able to work well with others.

Essential Functions:

· Lining and preparing sports fields for usage.

· Occasional painting, light repair work, weed whacking.

· Cleans and restocks restrooms daily, sweeping at city facilities.

· Empty trash containers at ballfield and parks as assigned.

· Reports all vandalism, safety issues or facility needs to supervisor.

· Other duties may be assigned.

· Available for weekday evenings and weekend work hours (Weekend hours required), and holidays as needed.

· Ability to consistently arrive to work on time.

· Takes responsibility for own actions and listens well to others.

· Maintains professional standards for ethics, policies, and procedures.

· Ability to work both independently and well with others.

· Ability to interact well with the general public and program participants.

Qualifications:

Required

· Age 18 or older

· Maine State Driver’s License with a safe and clean driving record

· Ability to speak, read, and write in the English language

· Ability to lift 80lbs

· Experience in Public Recreation and Sports and/or field maintenance preferred

· Basic Understanding of Softball and baseball preferred

Desired

· CPR & First Aid certifications

The employee must be able to move equipment such as chairs, tables, informational boards and signs.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
