Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Recreation Program Coordinator to join our team! In this role, you will oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of recreational programs, ensuring they align with community needs and organizational goals. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under your direction and control. This position requires varied and responsible duties, demanding a thorough knowledge of departmental operations and the ability to exercise judgment and initiative in completing tasks, especially in situations where precedent or established procedures do not provide clear guidance. The role involves handling a significant number of details, each varying in substance and content, requiring a flexible and adaptive approach to workload management.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and oversee recreational programs for all age groups.
  • Organize, implement, and supervise the administration of summer day camp and with the training of summer camp staff.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities.
  • Promote programs through marketing initiatives, including social media, newsletters, and community outreach.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with local businesses, contacting as needed to procure sponsorships.
  • Manage program budgets and resources efficiently.
  • Monitor program participation and satisfaction to drive continuous improvement.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sports Administration, or related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in municipal or private recreation programming or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Knowledge in Recreation Software (Myrec) is desirable.
 
Benefits:
The Town of Wells offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package.  This is a full-time position with a starting hourly rate of $22.86 to $27.66 depending on experience.  Benefits include Health, Dental, Short-Term Disability, Vision, Life Insurance, FSA, Educational Reimbursement, 457/401A matched retirement or Maine Public Employees Retirement (MainePERS), as well as an incentive-based Wellness Program.
