Job Summary:
The Parks and Recreation Director oversees all aspects of the Town of Sebago’s recreational programs, parks and facilities, and community events. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing youth and adult sports, after-school programs, summer camps, and seasonal community events such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Tree Lighting and more. The Director ensures that all programs run smoothly, safely, and in alignment with the Town’s goals for community engagement and recreation.
Key Responsibilities:
This role involves both office-based administrative work and on-site management of programs, events, and parks. The position requires frequent interaction with the public, staff, and volunteers, as well as occasional physical activity in outdoor environments.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and oversee recreational programs and events for all age groups, including youth sports leagues, after-school care, and summer camps.
- Manage registration, scheduling, and communication with participants, parents, and staff.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer coaches, program leaders, and part-time staff.
- Maintain town parks, recreational facilities, and equipment, ensuring safety and accessibility standards are met.
- Develop annual program budgets, track expenses, and report to Town officials.
- Serve as the primary contact for community members regarding recreational programs and facilities use.
- Foster partnerships with local schools, neighboring towns, organizations, and volunteers to enhance community engagement.
- Plan and execute special events, including seasonal and holiday programs.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in recreational management and youth programming.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and community members.
- Experience planning and supervising youth recreational programs.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety standards and best practices for recreational programs and facilities.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and seasonal events as needed.
- Experience in municipal recreation or a related field.
- Knowledge of youth sports, camps, and community engagement strategies.
- First Aid/CPR certification or equivalent.
