Job Description
The City of South Portland is currently seeking a full time Recreation Coordinator to join our team.
Position Summary: Manage, plan, organize and implement all Parks, Recreation and Waterfront special events, community events and cultural events. Market all special events and work with Park, Recreation and Waterfront employees to market their programs. Monitor and update all department social media platforms and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.

The Recreation Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department.  Supervision is exercised over special event volunteers and City staff working the event.

Education: Education: Associate’s degree in recreation, physical education, human services, marketing, event planning or a related field required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience in recreation, event planning, marketing or related experience required. Previous related work experience within a municipality preferred

Must possess and maintain a valid State of Maine Class “C” driver’s license throughout employment and must have their own reliable transportation for possible work-day transportation within the city.

Starting salary range: is currently $23.19 - $24.62 per hour ($45,220 – $48,009 annually), depending on experience. The position is eligible for annual step increases, and possible annual cost of living increases as approved by the City Council.
