Job Description
The City of South Portland is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated professional to join the Parks, Recreation &Waterfront Department team as Recreation Manager. This position will focus on three main areas: Special Events, Summer Recreation Camps and our Before and After care program. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of the Recreation Operations Manager. 
The Recreation Manager assists in planning, implementing, marketing and supervising our Summer Recreation Camps and Before & After Care Program. In addition, this position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and fundraising for all of the department’s special events. This position supervises one Full Time Employee (Before & After Care/Summer Rec Camp Coordinator) as well as numerous seasonal, part-time employees and volunteers. The incumbent must work effectively with the public, community groups and other City employees. 
Applicants must have excellent computer, public relations, written and verbal communication skills.  The individual must be proficient with specialized software programs, have strong organizational skills and be capable of working independently and fostering a team atmosphere.  This position will require someone who is able to adopt, monitor and work within a budget, and have the ability to set and manage multiple priorities.
Qualified applicants must possess four (4) years directly related experience, demonstrated supervisory skills and a minimum of a HS Diploma or a GED. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field and experience working in a municipality is highly preferred.

The salary range is $44,011.76 - $57,856.76
