Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department
 (YCS)The Town of Yarmouth, Maine seeks a self-motivated, experienced innovator to lead the department in the role as Assistant Director. The department oversees a variety of programs, events, camps, services, volunteer opportunities, parks, fields, trails, and many other recreational amenities throughout the town.
The Town is seeking a dynamic professional to share in the leadership of the YCS team.  The qualified applicant will continue to improve and build on the legacy of our town’s philosophy as well as a history of caring and quality services and programs.  The Town seeks an individual with a track record of innovation and resourcefulness, professional communication skills, and excellent leadership, team skills, personal relations, and management capabilities.
Requirements:  Graduation from a college or university with a minimum of a baccalaureate degree in park, recreation, leisure administration or related degree, as well as 5 years of progressive supervisory or administrative experience in a successful public agency, or any equivalent combination of experience, continuous education and related training.  Extensive knowledge of modern principles and practices of park and recreation administration, program and special event planning and design, and experience overseeing large programs and services.  Candidate must have experience in budget development and human resource management and must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental employees, Town and School officials, elected officials, the public and members of Boards and Commissions.
Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) is preferred.  Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license.  Must possess current CPR certification and first aid training.  Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of professional background confirmation, satisfactory criminal and financial background checks, and physical exam.
