9th Annual Harpswell Hiking Challenge
This event is held in conjunction with National Trails Day from American Hiking Society and takes place on June 2 & 3 (but there is no reason you can't take our challenge any time of the year!)
2018 Challenge sponsored by: TBD
Harpswell, Maine's peninsula and 30+ islands have over 200 miles of coastline with beautiful views of Casco Bay and even Mount Washington. This is the 9th year for our hiking challenge. Each year we choose 8 trails to hike (combination of Town of Harpswell and Harpswell Heritage Land Trust trails). Total hiking mileage is about 10 miles. You can hike all the trails in one day or over the weekend. Most of the trails touch the coastline, some are long and some short. Download the participation form and driving directions on the top right of this page. There will be sticker boxes prominently displayed on each trail. Take a sticker, put it on your form - and repeat for all 8 trails.
You can drop your completed challenge form at our HQ at . The booth will be manned 9 - 4 on Saturday and 11 - 3 on Sunday. There are porta-potties at the Town Office and at Mitchell Field. The information booth will have snacks and water, participation forms, and information sheets on restaurants in town. The first 100 people to COMPLETEthe challenge will receive a HHC T-shirt. We are committed to helping American Hiking Society improve 2802 miles of trail – pick up and bag trash along the way during your hike and return with this sheet – you’ll get a special prize! NEW this year – a fun prize for dogs that complete our challenge!
